The Pastoral Team

 

Rev. Brandon Chaplin

Brandon is our Senior Pastor. He has been a full-time member of the Pastoral Team since 1994. He provides dynamic leadership to the church, is a creative thinker, and is greatly respected both within the church and in the wider community. Brandon has also been Chaplain to Port Adelaide Football Club since its inauguration in 1996, and is recognised by the coaching staff as a significant and popular member of the support team.

Sam Thomson

Youth Pastor Sam (Rob) Thomson has been a full-time member of the Pastoral Team since 1990 and has over 30 years experience working with youth. He is widely known and greatly respected in the community, and is the longest-serving High School Chaplain in SA, having worked at Blackwood High School since 1989. His leadership of the church's ministry to our large group of young people is exemplary.

Ray Frost

Ray is married to Shirley and they have 3 adult children. He has been an Elder of the church since the 1970s. Ray is a solicitor and former lecturer at the Bible College of South Australia, is involved in our prayer and health ministry, and preaches regularly.

Katrina Beck

Katrina is married to Adrian and together they are raising 3 Primary school aged children. She has pioneered a number of ministries in the church in regards to prayer and keeps an active interest in the Kids' Hope initiative and Café 72. She is also a Senior Constable with the SA Police.

Jeff Grigg

Jeff is married to Wendy and they have 5 children. Jeff has had a long history in the church and has taken a special interest in Marriage Enrichment. He oversees our Pastoral Guidance Committee. Jeff works in the Information Technology industry.

Adam Wood

Adam is married to Christianne. Adam is the Youth Ministry Worker having a large role with our High School Youth Group, Oasis, as well as overseeing our Children's Ministry, Sunday Funday. Adam is also a chaplain at Blackwood Primary School.

Jody Paterson

Jody is married to Phil and they have 4 children. Jody is the Café Ministry Coordinator overseeing Café 72 at BHBC which caters for 400 meals per week and has a volunteer staff of 8 per day.

Sara Walding

Sara is our enthusiastic Small Groups Coordinator, overseeing over 30 Small Groups operating at BHBC. She is always on the look-out for individuals and families who might be interested in joining a Small Group. Sara is married to Steve and they have 2 daughters. She is also the chaplain at Belair Schools where she provides pastoral care to students, families and staff.

Jodie Houston

Jodie is married to Michael and they have 2 sons. Jodie is the Coordinator of Kids' Hope, a mentoring program pioneered by World Vision which we run in partnership with Belair Schools. Jodie trains, leads and equips about 20 mentors who spend an hour a week with a child at Belair Schools.

Nona Gregory

Nona is married to Stephen and they have 3 delightful children. Nona is a Pastoral Care Worker working alongside the Alive Health and Healing Ministry and she also has a role in caring for Small Group Leaders. Nona has an extraordinary heart for people and has a special way of walking with people during difficult times. She established Munchkins playgroup and is currently studying counselling at Tabor College.

Aaron McCaffery

Aaron McCaffery is married to Claire. Aaron also supports various pastoral initiatives in the church using creative design, music and art. Aside from his creative role, Aaron also spends time encouraging and mentoring youth in various roles, and he and Claire host a small group for young adults.
